AGRICULTURE
Agriculture is the production, processing,
marketing, and use of foods, fibers and
byproducts from plant crops and animals.
Agriculture was the key development that
led to the rise of human civilization,
with the husbandry of domesticated
animals and plants (i.e. crops) creating
food surpluses that enabled the development
of more densely populated and stratified
societies.
The study of agriculture is known as
agricultural science. Agriculture is
also observed in certain species of
ant and termite.

GLOBAL
GREENGRANTS
FUND
Global Greengrants Fund is a charitable
foundation that makes small grants
(typically $500 to $5,000) to grassroots
environmental causes around the world.
These funds are used to support community-based
groups outside the United States and Western
Europe working on issues of:
environmental justice,
sustainability,
conservation.
Focus areas
Greengrants focuses
its resources in
seven major issue
areas:
1. biodiversity,
2. climate change,
3. energy,
4. indigenous peoples,
5. sustenance,
6. water,
7. women.
Greengrants launched a designated climate
fund in June 2010 in partnership with 1%
for the Planet. Through this program,
groups will receive $500-5,000 to:
Develop alternative energy sources
Protect forests and plant trees
Train farmers on resilient agricultural techniques,
Address climate change and its effects around the globe.

AGRIBUSINESS
In agriculture, agribusiness is a generic
term for the various businesses involved
in food production, including:
farming,
contract farming,
seed supply,
agrichemicals,
farm machinery,
wholesale and distribution,
processing,
marketing,
retail sales.
Within the agriculture industry,
agribusiness is widely used
simply as a convenient portmanteau
of agriculture and business,
referring to the range of activities
and disciplines encompassed by modern
food production.
There are academic degrees in and
departments of agribusiness,
agribusiness trade associations,
agribusiness publications, and so
forth, worldwide.
Here, the term is only descriptive,
and is synonymous in the broadest
sense with food industry.

APPLYING
FOR
AN
AGRICULTURE
GRANT
Applying for Agriculture Grants sounds quite easy,
but it can be a really complicated process. Most
people do not apply for them simply because they
do not know how. However, the whole process is
a lot easier than one might thing.
The first thing that a person should do is to decide
what the money will be used for. This will help the
person decide what Agriculture Grants they should
apply for. Grants are usually used for specific
purposes, therefore, a person cannot just apply for
any grant that they see.
They must find one that will allow them to use the
money for what they want to use it for. Then, the
person will then have to figure out how the program
or project that they used the grant money for will
be funded after all the money from the grant is gone.
A grant will usually just jump start a project, but
it is up to the person awarded the grant to keep it
going after the grant money is gone.
After all that is done it is a good idea to research
all the different Agriculture Grants that are being
offered that year as some grants are not offered
every year. This can be done by checking out the
web sites of organizations to see what they are
funding this year. After that has all been figured
out it is important to put together a proposal.
The grant proposal should be based around a project
that the grant is offered for. The proposal must
show that the project meets all the requirements of
the grant, otherwise it will be a waste of time.
When writing a grant proposal it is important to
keep the proposal simple. Make sure not to make
it sound too wordy as well. Include things like
the history of the farm or project, why the
project is important, how the project will benefit
farms in the area, and how it will be funded after
the grant money is gone.
Once this is done then just make sure that the
grant proposal is submitted before the due date.
