JEWS
The Jews also known as the Jewish people, are an ethnoreligious
group originating from the Historical Israelites of the Ancient
Near East.
The Jewish ethnicity, nationality and religion are strongly
interrelated, as Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish
nation. Converts to Judaism typically have a status within the
Jewish ethnos equal to those born into it.[31] Conversion is not
encouraged by mainstream Judaism, and is considered a tough task,
mainly applicable for cases of mixed marriages.

SECTION 2
JEWISH
CULTURE
Jewish culture is the international culture of the Jews. Since
the formation of the Jewish nation in biblical times the
international community of Jewish people has been considered a
tribe or an ethnoreligious group rather than solely a religion.
Judaism guides its adherents in both practice and belief, so
that it has been called not only a religion, but an orthopraxy.
Not all individuals or all cultural phenomena can be classified
as either "secular" or "religious", a distinction native to
Enlightenment thinking.
Jewish culture in its etymological meaning retains the linkage
to the land of origin, the people named for the Kingdom of Judah,
study of Jewish texts, practice of community charity, and Jewish
history. The term "secular Jewish culture" therefore refers to
many aspects, including: Religion and World View, Literature,
Media, and Cinema, Art and Architecture, Cuisine and Traditional
Dress, attitudes to Gender, Marriage, and Family, Social Customs
and Lifestyles, Music and Dance. "Secular Judaism," is a distinct
phenomenon related to Jewish secularization - a historical process
of divesting all of these elements of culture from their religious
beliefs and practices.

JEWISH
STUDIES
Jewish studies (or Judaic studies) is an academic discipline
centered on the study of Jews and Judaism. Jewish studies is
interdisciplinary and combines aspects of history (especially
Jewish history), Middle Eastern studies, Asian studies,
Oriental studies, religious studies, archeology, sociology,
languages (Jewish languages), political science, area studies,
women's studies, and ethnic studies.
Jewish studies as a distinct field is mainly present at
colleges and universities in North America.
Related fields include Holocaust research and Israel Studies,
and in Israel, Jewish Thought.
History
The Jewish tradition generally places a high value on learning
and study, especially of religious texts. Torah study (study of
the Torah and more broadly of the entire Hebrew Bible as well as
Rabbinic literature such as the Talmud and Midrash) is considered
a religious obligation.
Since the Renaissance and the growth of higher education, many
people, including people not of the Jewish faith, have chosen to
study Jews and Judaism as a means of understanding the Jewish
religion, heritage, and Jewish history.
Religious instruction specifically for Jews, especially for those
who wish to join the rabbinate, is taught at Jewish seminaries
(and in Orthodox Judaism, yeshivas). Among the most prominent are
the Conservative Jewish Theological Seminary and the Reform Hebrew
Union College. For the majority of Jewish students attending regular
academic colleges and universities there is a growing choice of
Jewish studies courses and even degrees available at many institutions.

WHAT
DO
JEWS
BELIEVE?
Judaism is one of the oldest religions in the world. Their
sacred text, the Hebrew Bible, teaches several doctrines -
such as those about God, the Messiah, human beings, and the
universe - making beliefs very important to Jews. Judaism
has no official creed, however. Judaism shares some beliefs
with other world religions, like monotheism with Christianity
and Islam, but in other respects there are sharp differences
between the faiths.
It is important to understand that the term "Jewish" can be
used to describe a race and a culture, rather than a religion,
so some who identify themselves as Jewish may have little
interest in the beliefs of Judaism.
